Greetings!
And welcome to the Delta Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.!
I am Dr. Jaishree Ellis and currently serve as the Basileus (President) of the chapter. We are so excited that you have decided to check us out, and we are eager to highlight the amazing things that we do. DGO is small in stature, but you can believe that we are mighty in impact!
Since 1946, when we were founded by 7 very courageous women, who had a vision that mirrored that of our founding pearls, we have been uplifting our local community! Through efforts to combat illiteracy, poverty, domestic violence, food insecurity, and voter suppression, we have unashamedly and unapologetically supported the causes of the traditionally under-represented.
If our Founders could do it in 1908 in the pre-prohibition, Jim Crow South and the 1946, pre-Civil Rights Jim Crow society, then we know that we can do our part in modern day America! And we show up ALL OF THE TIME to do just that!
But we look forward to your support… because you are why we are here! Whether you come out to our events, like our Vision Board Party, or Party with a Purpose; support our fundraising efforts, like Kendra Scott, Chic-Fil-A or Chipotle, we look forward to seeing you there! Give us feed back! We walk for breast cancer and for heart health awareness, but let us know how we can support YOU, our community! Is there a cause that we have overlooked? Because we want to have more of an impact… Every single year, we want to grow… and we want to do more!
So, this is us… laid bare and transparent. Willing to work and grind it out so that our community can prosper… because at the end of the day, it always comes back to our mission… “Service to ALL Mankind!”
With warmest and Kindest Regards,
Jaishree Ellis, MD
